Summer of 2008 brought to life the initial vision of the Community Law Enforcement Foundation with the purchase of Pax and the reinstatement of the Morgan Hill Police Department's K-9 Unit.

The foundation continues to raise money to support the dog and his annual training as well as provide food and medical care for Pax through community support and services.

DONATION: $19,240 of $75,000 commitment

In January 2010, the foundation granted the Morgan Hill Police Department with funds for the purchase of a new silent generator for their Crime Scene Investigation trailer.  The generator allows the MHPD to perform more functions at the scene of a crime rather than wasting precious time traveling to and from the police station.

Additionally, due to low noise emissions they can work on scene in residential areas throughout the night without disturbing the community.

DONATION:  $4200

K-9 Unit Demo

In October 2010, thanks to a local dog wash fundraising event put on by Cherisse White, owner of Cherisse's Hair Salon, we were able to supply Officer Ray and Pax with some new training equipment.

DONATION:  $275

In December 2010, due in part to a grant from The Morgan Hill Community Foundation, the foundation funded the purchase of a NOPTIC patrol car mounted thermal imaging camera.  The camera will allow officers to detect heat sources such as humans, animals and recently operated vehicles while searching for suspects in the dark.

DONATION:  $4500

In December 2010, we were awarded a $3500 grant by the eBay Foundation in support of the MHPD's Parent Project.  The Parent Project is a program sponsored by the police department to provide parents of high risk teenagers with the tools necessary to guide their children away from gangs and truant behaviors.

The MHPD works closely with local high schools to identify at risk kids and to work with parents to ensure a brighter future for kids in our community.

DONATION:  $3500

In April 2011, the foundation provided a new high definition video camera and associated memory cards to the MHPD for their CSI unit.  A new HD camera with removable memory and night vision capabilities was required to provide for clear recording of crime scenes where lighting was less than optimal.  Use of memory cards provides for a safe unalterable method to store data for future court use.

DONATION:  $750

In April 2011, the foundation provided funds for 3 e-Cite devices.  These devices are hand held ticketing devices that allow officers to provide an electronically generated ticket at the site.  This in turn reduces the chance for error as well as the need for an officer to re-key information at the end of the shift.  These devices were selected as they are compatible with and accepted by the Santa Clara County court system.

DONATION:  $3000

In May 2011 the foundation facilitated the purchase of a K-9 protective vest for our police dog, Pax.  Donations made during a fundraising effort put on by the Morgan Hill Downtown Association in conjunction with a large donation from Mama Mia's owner Majid Bahriny made this dream a reality.  Many K-9's are injured or killed each year in the line of duty because of a lack of funds for a protective vest.  Thanks to a commitment from our community, we will now be able to better protect our K-9 unit.

DONATION:  $2500
Ballistics Shield
In May 2011, due in part to a grant from The Morgan Hill Community Foundation, the foundation funded the purchase of two Minuteman Folding Ballistics Shields.  The shields will provide safety for officers during forced entry situations.

DONATION:  $4000
In July 2011, the foundation provides funds for a License Plate Recognition (LPR) system.  This system uses multiple cameras mounted to a patrol car.  This technology allows an officer to read hundreds or even thousands of plates and compare them to a national database in the time it would normally take to call in just one vehicle license plate.  If the system notifies the officer of a "hit", he or she can then call in the plate and make a verification of the suspected vehicle.  Examples that could cause a "hit" include a stolen vehicle, vehicles involved in a robbery and vehicles identified in an Amber Alert.

DONATION: $22,000
