Wish List Sponsor Items and Values:

Total Station Survey Unit $12,000 (one unit)
The Total Station unit provides 3D rendering of crime and accident scenes.  What used to take multiple officers to map out a crime scene can now be done with just two.  The Total Station Survey Unit uses GPS tracking to accurately document the exact location of evidence at a scene which can later be shown in court to provide a realistic & accurate 3D image of the scene.

Gang Suppression Vehicle $34,000 (complete unit)
-Vehicle (unmarked) $23,000
-Mobile Computer Terminal $7,000
-Lights & Equipment Package $4,000

Volunteers in Policing Program Funding $4,000
VIP is a program formed out of the new Citizen's Academy.  It gives program graduates an opportunity to put their newly formed skills to use by volunteering with the MHPD for different non-sworn activities within the department.  Members of  VIP will provide traffic enforcement support at local events and major incidents, provide Live Scan support and other activities.  Support of this request will provide uniforms (shirts, hats, etc.) and traffic controls supplies (bags, flashlights, cones, vests, whistles, etc.) for VIP members.  Note:  CLEF has already providing funding for re-outfitting two patrol vehicles as VIP vehicles as part of this worthy program.

Rifle Optics (ACOG) for SWAT $6,000 (6 ACOGS @ $1000 each)
ACOGS are red laser sight-displays mounted on SWAT rifles that provide a more precise target acquisition.  This device improves officer safety in extreme situations by decreasing time and increasing accuracy during target acquisition.

Apple iPads $3,000 (6 units at $500 each)
Apple iPads will allow officers to perform tasks in the field that currently are required to be performed at the police station.  Report writing takes approximately 2 hours per report, removing an officer from the field for that period of time.  An iPad would allow that work to be performed while parked in a school zone or other critical area where the simple presence of a police car will cause drivers to use extra caution.  iPads will also provide officers with GPS and Google earth functionalities which would aid in faster response times to exact locations.  iPads will increase security during critical tactical situations by allowing officers to communicate via secure email versus non-secure portable radio traffic.  Officers can also receive in-field photos of lost, missing or wanted individuals.

Command Set-up for Sergeants vehicles $10,000 (2 Vehicles @ $5000 each)
In 2012, two new Chevrolet Tahoe's will be purchased to replace the current supervisor vehicles.  The new vehicles need to be outfitted with cabinetry to house an on-scene command center including maps, computers and safety equipment.

2nd NOPTIC Camera $4,500
The NOPTIC camera provides patrol officers with a night vision, spotlight mounted camera.  These cameras can be used to spot an individual hiding in the dark and/or recently operated vehicles using thermal imaging techniques.  CLEF previously purchased one camera for the MHPD and within weeks of installation officers located and apprehended a drug dealer using the camera.  Its use has been so valuable that a second unit has been requested.

Adoption of MHPD's '55 Olds Police Car (On going) - FILLED By George's Auto Service
The '55 Olds is not part of the regular MHPD fleet and we are looking for an individual or business that is willing to adopt the car and keep it up and running for local events such as the 4th of July parade, Taste of Morgan Hill car show and the Holiday Parade.
